The man who wrote the most famous bass solo of all time

Bakithi is Paul Simon’s favourite live bass player since the Graceland tour and he is also the most active member on stage. Mr. Kumalo is the one who can play the famous bass line in ´You can call me Al’ best – simply because he wrote it. Paul only changed one thing, he told him to play it backwards.

On stage Bakithi got famous in 2002 because of the ‘African dance’ he did touring the drum solo of ‘Diamonds’, and everyone is waiting for his repeated bass solo at the end of ‘call me Al’

He has appeared on the following albums:

Graceland
Rhythm of the Saints
The Capeman
You’re the one
